Gangolihat is a small Himalayan hill town in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India. Gangolihat is famous for its Shakti Peeth of "Haat Kalika" dedicated goddess Kali. Haat - Kalika Temple :- Gangolihat Haat - Kalika Temple, the temple was chosen by Sankaracharya for installation of Mahakali Shaktipeeth. It is believed that the Original Goddes Kalika Mata, which supposed to be in West Bengal, shifted her place form Bengal to Gangolihat. History of Haat - Kalika Mandir
It says that during the reign of the Chand rajas, human beings were, at times, offered in sacrifice at this temple, but the practice was stopped in the last century. Goats and buffaloes still continue to be sacrificed, particularly during the Navaratris of Chaitra and Asvina. Kafni Glacier
The scenic beauty and the tranquility prevailing in this region has an unbeatable charm. The Kaphini (Kafni) Glacier lies left of the Pindar Valley below the famous peak of Nandakot. As compared to Pindar the valley is much broader and the rhododendron (burans) that blooms here is spectacularly beautiful. The main Himalayan summits visible from the glacier are Nandakot (6860 m) and Nandabhnar (6236 m).
